El Puertito Bay, Playa de las Americas, Northern Atlantic, Tenerife #26aab5 Colour of Water

El Puertito Bay, Playa de las Americas, Northern Atlantic, Tenerife #26aab5

We headed to Tenerife to do a bit of freedive training, enjoy the Northern Atlantic ocean and to take in the sealife and food. On our travels around the island in our little Fiat Panda we had heard of a small bay which would possibly have turtles present.

So, on the search for turtles at El Puertito, just north of Playa de las Americas, we spent two days there, each day we were in the water for a few hours. We saw scuba divers who looked to be training, a spearfisherman, a few boats and the highlight of the bay was seeing mating cuttlefish. We didn't sea any turtles on our visit here but were still overjoyed with the cuttle fish experience and other sealife.

If you head further around on the left through the little village, there is a smaller bay with ladders in to the sea if you fancy something a bit more private. Watch out for the urchins on the sea floor, as there are quite a few and are of a large size.
